Greg Blankinship


Greg Blankinship is a member of the firm's Litigation Department, and he specializes in complex commercial litigation, class actions and securities suits in state and federal courts, and representation of individuals and corporate entities before various regulatory bodies.  Greg has represented numerous corporate entities and individuals, including investment advisors, mutual fund advisors, retail and wholesale products distributors, technology investment companies, and manufacturing concerns.  Greg also has extensive regulatory experience, having represented individual and corporate clients in proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, the NASD, the New Jersey Bureau of Securities and the Massachusetts Securities Division.  Greg has also worked on substantial class action matters representing both defendants and plaintiffs in numerous nationwide, multi-district class actions, including securities, consumer fraud and wage and hour matters.  Greg is also an accomplished transactional attorney, having negotiated and settled partnership dissolution disputes and stockholder agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Greg was an Associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Greenberg Traurig, LLP.  Greg received his B.A. from Emory University in 1991 and his M.A. from the University of North Carolina in 1995.  He attended law school at the Univeristy of Washington, where he earned his J.D. in 2001.  While in law school, Greg was a member of the University of Washington Law Review.  

A sampling of Greg's successful cases include:

  • In representing a class of New York electricity consumers, Greg successfully briefed a motion to remand that resulted in the case's return to state court.
  • The defense of a multi-district wage and hour class action brought by millions of hourly employees against a Fortune 50 retailer that resulted in a global settlement favoring the client.
  • Representation of an investment advisor before the New Jersey Bureau of Securities that resulted in the unrestricted registration of his advisory license.
  • Negotiated a stock redemption agreement for the dissolution of an investment advisory business to the mutual satisfation of the parties.
  • Representation of individual officers and corporations before the SEC, FINRA, the NASD and state regulators resulting in either no action or a settlement favoring the clients.
  • Defense of retail gasoline stores in an attorney general investigation concerning price gauging that resulted in a minimal fine. 

Greg has also prosecuted numerous class actions on behalf of consumers in New York and nationwide, including claims brought against a prominent video game manufacturer for allegedly intentionally disabling valuable game console features it had previously and prominenlty advertised, claims brought against a chewing gum manufacturer for alleged false advertising concerning unsubstantiated health benefits, claims brought on behalf of New York electricity consumers for alleged rate manipulation by electricity producers, and claims brought against internet marketers for alleged unauthorized credit charges.  Greg's broad experience as a litigator has also exposed him to a wide variety of substantive business and consumer issues.  He also has substantial experience with the issues and procedural aspects of large class action and complex cases.
