Jeffrey I. Carton

Jeff is a seasoned trial lawyer and head of the firm's Litigation Department. Jeff has successfully handled both state and federal jury trials, as well as numerous arbitrations. Among other cases, Jeff successfully secured a defense verdict for Madison Square Garden and Amtrak in a federal jury trial in the Eastern District of New York; won a million dollar jury award in a state court breach of contract action in White Plains; tried a nine month real estate fraud arbitration in New York City in which our client was awarded a multi-million dollar judgment; and won a $4.5 million jury verdict in Columbia County for a high voltage lineman who was horribly injured while working on the campus of RPI.  Over the past 3 years (2005-2008), Jeff has won through verdict or settlement in excess of $20 million.

Jeff's accomplishments have led to his selection in "Super Lawyers" for the New York Metro region, his listing in the Top 25 "Super Lawyers" in Westchester County, and his lifetime induction into the "Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum" and "Top Trial Lawyers in America."

Jeff’s vast experiences in the sports and entertainment industries have also led to his successful handling of a variety of matters including claims of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, breach of television Executive Production Agreements, royalty disputes, and artist-management conflicts. Jeff helped prosecute the wrongful death action of Baltimore Orioles’ pitcher Steve Bechler and helped extricate former light heavyweight World Champion boxer Reggie Johnson from an onerous promoter’s contract.   Jeff regularly counsels media and entertainment clients in contract negotiations, severance disputes, and intellectual property matters.

Jeff received his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Dartmouth College and his J.D. degree from Columbia University School of Law.
